  • 1) What is the theme of the retreat?

"Seasons of Change" will look at the way God is at work in our lives through transition and growth.

Themes of trust, grief, lament, and comfort will be among those we explore.

  • 2) How will the retreat schedule work on the cruise?

There are two "sea days" which bookend the cruise, and those will be our primary retreat days with extended sessions and time for reflection and processing. During "port days," when you will be free to explore the beauty of the Canada/New England coast, we will have morning and evening prayer & worship times.

  • 3) Where will we meet for retreat sessions?

The Norwegian Breakaway has multiple meeting rooms for groups to use.

  • 4) Is this a women's retreat?

This is a co-ed retreat for both men and women.

  • 5) What is included in the cruise fare?

The posted fare includes your cruise (room & meals) plus various government taxes and fees. It also includes the retreat registration.

  • 6) What is NOT included in the cruise fare?

All cruise lines have a daily "service charge" which provides gratuities to room stewards and other employees. This is not covered in the cruise fare, but can be prepaid through your travel agent. Paid shore excursions, optional ship services, and additional gratuities are also not included.

  • 7) Can I book the cruise on my own, or do I have to go through the travel agency?

In order to secure our group booking, all passengers must book through our listed travel agency. Bookings made elsewhere will not be eligible for retreat registration or other group amenities.

  • 8) How does payment work for the cruise? Does it have to be paid all at once?

You can hold your reservation with a deposit of $250. The remaining balance of your fare can be paid in installments, with a final payment date in late April 2020.

  • 9) What is "on-board" credit?

Depending on the level of stateroom booked (inside, oceanview, or balcony), each guest will receive a designated amount credited to their on-board account. This can be used for purchases, paid shore excursions, etc.

  • 10) Can I book a room by myself?

Cruise fares are determined by cabin, not by individual passengers. All quoted fares are based on double-occupancy. To secure a cabin for one person would require paying two fares for that cabin. The Norwegian Breakaway does have a limited number of "studio" cabins. Contact the travel agent if you would like to explore booking one (but please know they sell out quickly).

  • 11) Can I book a room for more than two people?

Cabins on the Norwegian Breakaway (except for studio level) can usually accommodate up to 4 people. Cruise lines often offer discounts for 3rd/4th guests in a single cabin. If those special fares are available, this can be a good way to reduce the cost of the cruise by lowering the average fare per person in that cabin and splitting the total cost. Contact the travel agent if you would like to explore this possibility (but please know that discounted fare availability fluctuates often and, if available, is not guaranteed until first payment is made).

  • 12) What about kids? Can they come?

The retreat sessions are for adults, but Norwegian cruise ships have a ton of options to keep kids entertained on board! During any times mom and/or dad are at a retreat session, there would be plenty for them to do, and of course you can enjoy free time and "port days" together as a family. • 13) What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel before final payment, there is no cancellation penalty. Deposits may be refundable depending on when you cancel--check with the travel agent to see if your deposit is refundable.
